Tips & Warnings

    *
Use a large, clean workstation such as a large table. If you cover the table with butcher paper or something similar, you can write on the paper what each part is as you remove it from the laptop.
    *
Always use an ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) device such as a wrist strap when working on the innards of your computer. A static shock can completely ruin any of the computer's sensitive electronic components. Working on a laptop is not for the faint of heart. If in doubt of your abilities, take it to a qualified service person. Working on the laptop yourself might void any applicable warranties.
